Lookback is a backup, not a replacement.
Lookback can fail. Always check the back seat yourself, every time. Do not rely on a notification, an alarm, a call, or the absence of one to decide whether someone is in the car.
These Terms of Use govern your use of Lookback, provided by Jean Canales (“we”, “us”). By using Lookback, you agree to these terms.
Effective date: October 9, 2026
Using Lookback
Lookback is an iPhone reminder app for adult parents and caregivers. It checks in when it detects that you have parked and walked away. If you do not respond, it can follow up with an alarm or notification and an optional automated call.
There is no guarantee that Lookback will detect every trip, check in at the right time, or deliver an alert or call. Phones can run out of power. Signals and carriers can fail. Permissions can change. iOS can stop the app. Low Power Mode can delay checks.
You are responsible for checking the back seat yourself and for keeping your phone, permissions and settings ready. Lookback needs “Always” location, Motion & Fitness and notifications to work fully. On iOS 26 or later, the alarm that rings on silent also needs your permission. Earlier versions use a loud, time-sensitive notification.
An “all clear” entry records a response to the app. It is not independent proof that the back seat was checked.
Consent to verification texts and automated calls
Calls are optional and currently require a US phone number. By adding and verifying a number, you confirm that you are authorized to use it and consent to receive a one-time verification text and automated Lookback calls when a check-in goes unanswered.
The consent shown during setup is: “If you don’t confirm the back seat after you park, Lookback will call this number with an automated message. You can turn this off anytime.”
Message and data rates may apply. You can withdraw consent and delete the number and consent record at any time by choosing “Stop calling me” in the app. Without a number, the call step is a loud notification instead.
Answering and listening to the message counts as all clear. Voicemail does not.
